The Best Places to Stay in Ibiza

When a lot of people think of Ibiza, they think of the busy capital city and its nightlight district or the popular resort towns with their promenades lined with hotels and restaurants. But the island has so much more to offer when it comes to places to stay, especially when you choose one of our luxury villas.

Ibiza is home to wild nature reserves, peaceful fishing villages, sustainable communities and small resorts that feel a world away from the energy and light of some of the popular beaches and towns. So whether you’re looking for a rural retreat or you want to be right at the heart of all the action, there’s somewhere perfect for you on the island.

Here are our top recommendations for the best places to stay in Ibiza.

Where to stay in Ibiza for Couples

Portinatx

Portinatx is a charming resort town in the north of the island that always retains a feeling of quiet calm. It’s a great place for couples that want a relaxing and romantic getaway in Ibiza but don’t want to stay somewhere too remote, as there is a lovely selection of places to eat and tourist attractions in the centre.

Some of the prettiest beaches in Ibiza are found in Portinatx, so if you’re looking for a beautiful backdrop for your romantic break, you’ll certainly find it here. There’s also a small lighthouse down the coast that you can walk to along the cliffs, which offers lovely views of the sea.

The Villa Samiya Vista is a great place to stay if you want to explore Portinax but also want to retreat to a private villa for some quality time alone. The villa has been a photoshoot location for a number of famous publications and has incredible views and decor, with a highlight being the infinity pool surrounded by tropical plants.

Where to Stay in Ibiza for Partying

Playa d'en Bossa

Playa d'en Bossa is the undisputed capital for partying and clubbing in Ibiza, so if enjoying the famous nightlife is top on your list of priorities then you want to stay as close to this area as possible. Located on the coast between Ibiza Town and the island’s airport, this beach and the streets around it are home to some of the most famous clubs and will be buzzing with activity from later afternoon well into the early hours of the morning.

The area’s beach is 2 km long and lined with hotels, bars and places to eat, so you’ll have plenty of places to choose from just by walking along the promenade. With Ibiza Town nearby and so many attractions and things to do, it’s an ideal place to stay if you’re looking for an Ibiza holiday filled with fun.

If you’re visiting Ibiza with friends and want to stay close to Playa d'en Bossa without being right in the middle of the area, Casa Louie is a brilliant choice of holiday villa. Sleeping ten guests across five bedrooms, this modern villa is beautifully designed and features an outdoor infinity pool, a large garden and views of the coast.

Where to stay in Ibiza for Families

San Carlos

San Carlos is a village on the north of the island in an area that was once incredibly popular with Ibiza’s hippie population in the 1960s and 70s. The laid-back and relaxed atmosphere is ideal for families that are looking for a travel destination where they can enjoy and relax in a beautiful and safe environment.

There’s not a massive range of attractions in San Carlos, but you will find a handful of restaurants and cafes, a children’s playground, an ice cream parlour and the famous Las Dalias hippie market nearby. It’s also very close to some of the island’s popular beaches and coastal resorts, so if you want a day trip for a change of scenery, you’ve got several options to choose from.

A popular family villa in the area is Casa Vicky, which sleeps up to ten people and has been newly refurbished to offer all the amenities you’ll need on your holiday. A highlight of the villas is a small sandy ‘beach’ area that sits right next to the private pool, so children can feel like they’re beside the sea without even having to leave the property.

What Are The Best Things to Do in Ibiza?

Wondering how best to spend your time when you stay in one of our luxury Ibiza villas? Our concierge team can offer personalised recommendations and put together an exclusive itinerary, but we also wanted to share our top recommendations for what to do in Ibiza below.

Charter a Yacht

Exploring the coast of Ibiza from the water is the perfect way to admire some of the island’s best scenery and get access to its most exclusive beaches and coves. Charter a yacht and explore the ocean around the island, dropping anchor to go swimming, visiting marinas and sipping cocktails as the sun sets.

Spend Time on the Beach

Ibiza’s beaches are legendary and offer a lot more to visitors than just simple sunbathing opportunities. Avoid the crowds and take a trip to a private beach club and enjoy luxurious day beds out on the sand, award-winning dining options and live music as the soundtrack to your day by the sea.

Go for a Hike

Another of the best ways to see Ibiza is on foot, following any of the island's hiking trails and coast paths through olive groves, along cliffs and around nature reserves. Pick a day when the weather is sunny but not too hot, have one of our private chefs pack you a picnic lunch, and set out to discover a rugged and truly beautiful side of the island.

Enjoy Dinner with a View

The culinary scene in Ibiza keeps getting better, with more and more incredible restaurants and legendary chefs coming to the island to offer their takes on classic flavours and Mediterranean dishes. Make the most of the food on offer and spend at least one evening at a restaurant with an outdoor terrace so that you can enjoy views of the island whilst you sample its finest ingredients.

Where are the Best Beaches in Ibiza?

Ibiza is famous for its beaches, from the private strips of sand managed by luxury beach clubs to secluded coves and long pieces of coastline constantly dotted with sun loungers and parasols. There’s a huge amount of choice when it comes to deciding on the best beaches to visit in Ibiza, and depending on where you stay on the island, you might just choose to spend time at the ones near your villa. However, if you’re looking for recommendations, below are our top three picks for the best beaches around the island.

Ibiza Beach Club

Cala Bassa

Cala Bassa

Located on the southwest coast of the island, Cala Bassa is a popular beach for visitors staying in San Antonio, and can get busy during the summer months. However, as long as you arrive early and claim a spot on the sand, you can enjoy beautiful conditions, the facilities of a beach club, and surrounding scenery that includes pine and juniper trees and rock formations, giving this beach a very natural feel.

What makes Cala Bassa stand out from its nearby competitors is the incredible clearness of the water. If you’re looking for somewhere great to swim, you can’t fault the cleanliness of the ocean near Cala Bassa, which gently laps up against a soft strip of sand that is lined with sun loungers and beach umbrellas.

Kids Activities 2

Portinatx

Portinatx is a resort in the northeast of the island that is actually home to three small beaches; S'Arenal Gros, S'Arenal Petit and Playa Porto Beach. A popular spot for holidaymakers, there’s always enough space for everyone across these beaches, as well as access to a great range of restaurants, bars and other facilities that offer everything you need for a full day at the coast.

S'Arenal Petit is a very small cove that is perfect for those seeking some seclusion and quiet, as well as being a lovely place to try stand-up paddle boarding or snorkelling. S'Arenal Gros is larger and more popular and is home to a diving school, so you’ll see quite a few scuba divers out in the water when you visit. Playa Porto is further away from the centre of Portinatx and again is quite a small beach, but is surrounded by cliffs and trees which makes it a very picturesque spot.

Cala Jondal V1

Cala Jondal

Another beach on Ibiza’s southwest coast, Casa Jondal is often frequented by some of Ibiza’s most stylish visitors, making it a great choice if you’re looking for a high-class experience. It’s a great place to go if you want more to do than just relaxing on the sand or dipping your toes in the water, with restaurants, bars and regular live music performances taking place in the afternoons and evenings.

Red cliffs frame the beach and a strip of white pebbles gives way to golden sand towards the south side of the area. Despite its luxury facilities and clientele, the beach retains a rustic feel thanks to the scenery, and it’s well worth the journey either by boat or car to get here and enjoy what’s on offer.

When is the Best Time to Visit Ibiza?

Ibiza’s popularity means that travellers visit the island all year round, but there is still a defined peak season for tourism over the summer months. The weather in Ibiza is also best between May and September because the temperatures are at their highest and it’s relatively dry, providing the perfect conditions for time on the beach.

If you’re planning a trip to Ibiza that will be filled with time spent sunbathing, or you want to attend some of the major events taking place in clubs on the island, you should visit the island between June and August. Temperatures can soar at this time of year, so if you’d like to spend a lot of time outdoors then May or September are better choices, as the weather will be cooler but still nice and sunny.

Ibiza is still a marvellous travel destination in the off-season, so if you’d rather visit the island when it’s not full of tourists and the nightlife isn’t quite as wild, we recommend you stay between October and April.
