What Are The Best Things to Do in Mykonos?

The spectacular island of Mykonos is bursting with exciting and unique things to do. We have listed a few of our top picks below.

Catch The Sunset At Little Venice (Alefkandra)

Head to Little Venice (otherwise known as Alefkandra) to catch one of the best things to see in Mykonos. This stunning neighbourhood is one of the most famous and picturesque areas on the island.  Vibrantly-coloured Italian-style houses line the water’s edge, creating an enchanting setting.

The sight of the white-washed buildings with their vibrant shutters, doors, and balconies against the backdrop of the crashing blue waves is truly breathtaking. Little Venice is certainly one of the best places to visit in Mykonos.

See The Mykonos Windmills

Visiting the famous windmills is another one of the top things to do in Mykonos. Constructed by Venetians in the 16th century, these thatched beauties lie just by the harbour and have become something synonymous with the island over the years.

While stunning and captivating, they also serve as a reminder of the historical role that the Cycladic winds played in grinding grains on the island many centuries ago.

When is the Best Time to Visit Mykonos?

One of the most common questions to arise during the planning process is when the best time to go to Mykonos is. To experience the weather in its prime, you may wish to visit during the summer months between June and September.

The temperatures will be at their peak, while the probability of rainfall is low, creating the perfect conditions to explore all of the island’s natural beauty. Yet, this wonderful weather tends to draw in more tourists than during other periods of the year.

On the other hand, the seasons of Spring and Autumn fall just before and after the peak season, respectively. As a result, they offer similarly gorgeous weather conditions but with smaller crowds and fewer tourists.

This means that you will be able to tick off unmissable places to see in Mykonos in a more peaceful and tranquil environment, while also enjoying some glorious Mediterranean sun. Therefore, Spring and Autumn are also thought to be some of the best times of year to go to the island.
