Best Time To Visit Mykonos

Thanks to its typically Mediterranean climate, boasting around 300 days of sunshine every year, the Greek island of Mykonos is a year-round destination. While the captivating island offers a welcome no matter the time of year, the decision ultimately comes down to personal preference. So, we’re working through the calendar to help you choose the best time to visit Mykonos.

While the island isn’t as lively during the cooler months, you can rest assured there’s still plenty going on, with lower rental rates and fewer people to sweeten the deal. Read on to find out more.

Visiting Mykonos in March

As winter comes to an end, March is the month that sees the island slowly come to life again, with restaurants and attractions opening up once again. While the temperature is still relatively mild, you can expect sunshine and longer days. If an active holiday is on the agenda, March is indeed a good time to visit Mykonos.

Visiting Mykonos in April

As the weather continues to warm up, you can expect to enjoy afternoons of sunbathing and dips in the sea. Towards the end of the month, around three quarters of restaurants and attractions will be open. Although the nightlife certainly won’t be in full swing in April, you can expect several bars to open in Mykonos Town, offering plenty of fun as you beat the crowds.

Visiting Mykonos in May

As May rolls around, it feels as if summer has arrived. Temperatures are rising, and the days get longer. In May, almost all restaurants are open, as the beach clubs and bars begin opening. As tourists start flocking to the island, you can expect vibrant nightlife, bustling beach clubs and plenty of attractions at your disposal.

Visiting Mykonos in June

While the island is getting much busier, June is still outside of the peak season in Mykonos. With the sun shining every day, you’ll be basking at the island's hottest beach clubs, restaurants and bars while still avoiding the large summer crowds. In mid-June, the party calendar kicks off, with beach parties, DJ sets and live events on the agenda. If you’re heading to Mykonos to party, June makes for an excellent time to visit.

Visiting Mykonos in July

As we’re almost at the height of summer, Mykonos becomes a haven for sun worshippers and partygoers. With temperatures continuously rising and longer days, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the enchanting island. By night, you can expect balmy evenings and jam-packed calendars as the finest attractions in Mykonos are in full swing.

Visiting Mykonos in August

August is undoubtedly the busiest month on the Greek island of Mykonos as the temperature peaks. While the days are long and hot, you’ll enjoy mild winds that make the days more pleasant. During August, you can rest assured that the nightlife is at its best, with the hottest venues on the island busier than ever. While the island is busy, thanks to our luxury villa rentals, you can enjoy your very own haven as you escape the crowds when needed. The best of both worlds indeed.

Visiting Mykonos in September

While the nightlife and attractions wind down a little, there is still plenty going on in Mykonos in September. The weather is still great and slightly less windy than September, making it the perfect month to visit for sun lovers. While restaurants will remain open for the whole month, the larger clubs usually host their closing parties around mid-September.

Visiting Mykonos in October

While you may not think so, early October is most definitely still the tourist season. The sun is still shining, and days on the beach are very much on the agenda. While the larger clubs on the island have closed their doors for the year, there’s still plenty going on in Mykonos town.

For the second half of October, many restaurants and bars will also close for the winter months as the island begins to feel much quieter. If you enjoy peace and quiet combined with mild weather perfect for outdoor activities, then now is a prime time to visit.

Visiting Mykonos in November

As winter is on the horizon, long days of sunshine are no longer guaranteed. While you might get some luck with some late-season sun, the average temperature is 16 degrees. Of course, with a heated pool at one of our luxury villa rentals, that might not matter to you too much. While there’s a little going on in Mykonos Town, for the most part, many businesses have now shut.

Visiting Mykonos in winter

During the winter months (December to February) the Greek island of Mykonos is tranquil. As the temperature is typical of northern Europe, you can expect warm-ish days (around 14 degrees). While sunny days will come about, be prepared for some rainfall, winds, and grey skies.
