But there are positive and proactive steps that we can all take to maintain a sense of wellbeing in these tricky times. As both our work and personal lives have shifted so quickly and significantly, so too must our mindsets.  Here at Dynamic Lives, we have started this process by supporting the small business community in Ibiza more heavily, by buying and consuming local produce from organic farms.

Many of our farmers are still producing and selling fresh fruit and vegetables, goats’ cheese, honey, eggs, and nutrient-packed microgreens. They’re putting in enormous efforts to continue to provide us with the nourishment that we all need, and by buying from and supporting these family owned businesses, we can play our part in supporting Ibiza through its recovery, and protecting a vital sector of our community.

The site is updated regularly, and you can find the opening times, location, and ordering information of Ibiza’s best farm-to-table shops in an instant.

It is already evident that many of us have changed our shopping habits recently, and many of these farms have seen a significant increase in demand. Still, the land continues to deliver and as many hotels and restaurants have been forced to cancel large orders, it is expected that this abundance of high-quality produce will now remain available to islanders for purchase, as we navigate through the coming weeks and months.

Staying safe when buying your local produce

Local suppliers are working round-the-clock behind the scenes to put health and safety at the forefront of their operations, but we all have a personal responsibility too. We should continue to limit our shopping trips as much as possible, being mindful to maintain social distance, and uphold vigilant self-care routines. Once you arrive back home, take the time to thoroughly wash your hands as well as any fresh produce that you’ve purchased as well. Although it feels as though it’s advice we’re constantly being made aware of everywhere we look, it’s difficult to overstate just how important these messages are right now, and how we all have our part to play in keeping ourselves healthy, being mindful of others, and in turn helping our island home to heal.

Giving Ibiza space to heal

At present, it may seem difficult to find the positive in these unprecedented times, but during lockdown, something truly fascinating and heartening has started happening. Dolphins have entered the ports, water pollution has dropped significantly, and the coastline has been given the opportunity to recoup from the impact of the tourist trade.

Right now, it’s time for Ibiza to rest. It’s time to pause for reflection, to educate ourselves and travellers alike, and to quite literally go back to our roots and consider how we can protect the place that we call home both now and in the future.

Nothing is certain, and we all know that we’ll have many challenges to deal with before this lockdown passes. But it will pass, and Ibiza will return to being the island that we all know, love and cherish.
