Sunset for All Occasions in Ibiza

So many of us miss it, every day, because we are too busy thinking about all the things we have to do. This doesn’t happen in Ibiza. No matter where you are on the island, it is almost impossible to miss the sunset, and even less possible not to be completely awestruck by its magnificence.

There are certain places where sunsets are particularly spectacular and here is Dynamic Lives’ founder, George Burdon’s, top list of sunsets for all occasions.

First timers – Ibiza’s sunset strip

It has to be done at least once or even several times. Along the promenade that runs beside the sea in San Antonio, you will find two of the most iconic sunset bars on the island: Café del Mar and Café Mambo. There are other bars along this stretch and if the carnival atmosphere suits your mood then you may need to witness a few sunsets on ‘the strip’ just to try them all out.

Adventurous romantics – Punta Galera

There are no bars here so you’ll need to bring your own refreshments, and the scrabble down the rocky pathway requires some agility, but the reward is well worth it. This outcrop of smooth, flat rocks jutting out over a naturally formed swimming pool of crystal clear water has an unadulterated view over the sea towards the dipping sun. Bring your lover and an engagement ring, if that’s how you’re feeling.

Family vibe – Sunset Ashram, Cala Conta

This is a top spot if you’ve got multiple generations in your group. The kids can muck about on the sand and munch down on smoothies and fries, while the grown ups sip mojitos and get into the musical vibe, while watching the sun put on a colourful and awe-inspiring show.

Ramblers delight – Las Puertas del Cielo, Santa Agnes

Park the car in the tiny village of Santa Agnes and take the road out of town that overlooks the almond groves. Keep walking until you think you might be going nowhere then walk a little further and you will come across Las Puertas del Cielo or the Doors to Heaven – it will be immediately obvious why this cute, rustic restaurant has its name. Overlooking the small islets of Ses Margalides, the view from here is completely unspoilt. Enjoy a traditional meal, a carafe (or two) of wine and watch the sun do its thing.
