Drink O'Clock in Ibiza

But that’s not to say there are not many other healthy and delicious ways to cool down during an Ibiza summer. Here are some of Dynamic Lives founder George Burden’s favourite places to whet the whistle.

Juice bars

A freshly pressed juice can quench a thirst, cool you down and also compensate for all the Ibiza indulgences. Potion Juicery supplies cold press juices to the likes of Cotton Beach Club and Picadeli. You can also pop into their shop in Ibiza town for a pick-me-up. Passion Cafe (there are currently four locations around the island, with a fifth in the works for September) also does some impressive smoothies and juices not to mention super healthy breakfasts, lunches and dinners. And if you are going to go all out then Wild Beets in Santa Gertrudis pump up their juices and smoothies with all kinds of superfood supplements.

Coffee

Cafés Ibiza have been roasting beans and supplying coffee to Ibiza bars and restaurants since 1953 and you can taste their distinctive blends all over the island. If you’re lucky you may drive past their factory on the road from Santa Eulalia to Ibiza at roasting time… hmmm, delicious!

The new kid on the coffee block is Cafés Meke. Set up by two brothers from New Zealand, Cafés Meke use only organic and fair-trade beans. They take their roasting super seriously and their coffee is second to none. They supply bars and restaurants as well as pump the black gold to the public at a stall every Sunday at San Juan Market.

Cocktails and wine

Sunshine and cocktails go together so well. The Pineapple Express cocktail for two at Experimental Beach at Salinas is exceptional. Then there are the artful creations of master cocktail man Chris Edwardes (ex-Groucho Club) at Hidden Bar in Cala San Vicente. Of course a Bellini at Cipriani is a must as well. And if you’re looking for the hip crowd you cant go past moules et frites and absinthe cocktails at Bar 1805 in the heart of Sa Peña. The wine list at Can Domingo is unsurpassable. Saturday evenings are wine and jazz night where the sommelier picks out the perfect drop to match the soulful tunes. Finally, sunset cocktails are an essential experience and why not go old school with a wander down the seaside promenade to Cafe del Mar and Mambo?
