Argentière
Argentière is considered one of the foremost alpine resorts due to its enviable location at the base of Les Grands Montets - an immense, varied area offering an array of pistes and vast powder fields of off piste in the winter and a universe of extraordinary beauty in the summer.
The village is 7km above Chamonix town, nestled below the infamous Drus and Aiguille Verte and between the Mer de Glace and Glacier d'Argentière.
The old village is in a lovely setting surrounded by the most magnificent peaks and glaciers in the Alps. The picturesque mountain feel of the village is abundant, it has long been at the fore front of Alpine sports, welcoming tourists for 200 years and skiers since the early years of the century.
Built beside the Torrent de l’Arve, the village of Argentiere retains a large number of traditional wooden style chalets, as well as ancient farmhouses where the farmers still subsist on mountain agriculture. Argentière provides an interesting base to explore the surrounding ski areas of the Chamonix valley. Argentière also offers all the modern amenities and services you would want on a ski or mountain break with a variety of cosy bars and restaurants and a disco.
